Getting shredded abs, or any other muscle just comes down to a few basic principles. Today we're going to explain how you can get those shredded abs you've always wanted.

Eating in a calorie deficit

In order to lose fat, you need to be in a calorie deficit. When you are in a calorie deficit, your body uses the fat as energy to perform throughout the day. Make sure to know your maintenance calories and subtract a few 100 calories from it, that way you know you're in a calorie deficit.

Move more

You can also move more throughout the day to burn off more calories. That way you are able to eat a bit more calories if you're finding it hard to hold yourself to a calorie restriction.

Don't go too fast

You might think as you're in a greater deficit, you'll get the results faster. As this is true, you'll most likely also lose more muscle during the process. It is better to be in a slight calorie deficit of only 200-300 calories to slowly lose the fat while maintaining your muscle. Another benefit of having a slight calorie deficit is that you'll most likely stick to your diet and not binge eat and gain all the weight back. Patience is key here!

Progressive overload

Do more every day! If you do a bit more than yesterday, you'll improve and get better at it while burning off more calories.
